Physical media has been around for a long time now, and during that time, manufacturers have gone above and beyond to make the format feel more collectible. Personally, I pick up movies with the intention of watching them and then tucking them away on a shelf in a separate room. I have some movies in my living room, mainly because that's where I have the extra shelf space, but I don't go through the trouble of displaying them or even organizing them all that well.
