When the first 4K TVsemerged in the early 2010s, they were considered as much of a gimmick as 8K TVs are today. The potential of the tech was there, obviously. But screen sizes weren't yet big enough to justify the leap for most shoppers, and it took ages for a decent amount of 4K content to hit the market.
