A lesson some of us learn too late in life is to stay skeptical of promises about how good a product will be. That may sound obvious -- some businesses will do anything to take your money -- but if a product like a smartphone or game console strikes a personal nerve, like having a favorite creator attached, it's all too easy to buy into the rest of the marketing hype. This is why I wait for reviews whenever possible.
