There's a tug-of-war in the home theater space that's often unspoken, but matters a lot to aficionados: the quality and convenience gaps between streaming and Blu-ray. Streaming naturally delivers plenty of convenience, but doesn't permit ownership, and requires substantially compressed audio and video to cope with internet traffic. Blu-ray offers superior quality and ownership -- but you have to order or shop for discs, find a way to store them all, and pop them into your player one at a time. It's no wonder Netflix caught on.
