E3 2022: Details, livestreams, games and more for the virtual event

The world's biggest gaming show is E3, but for another year it's been confirmed that it will be online-only in 2022, just like the last couple of years.

Still, while we might not be reporting from Los Angeles itself, there will be big announcements and press events aplenty. And you will be able to watch the whole thing from your own home.

Here then is all the information and what to expect from E3 2022.

What is E3 and when does it start?

E3 is generally a three-day expo for games, with some of the world's biggest publishers and console manufacturers showing the titles that will be coming out later that year and beyond.

It is usually held in Los Angeles at the LA Convention Center. However, as in the last two years, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic means the entire event will be streamed online only.

So, you will have to watch the entire shebang from the safety of your own home.

We hope to have all the livestream details closer the time (and should be able to host them here on Pocket-lint).

E3 2022 public dates

The offficial dates for the event haven't yet been confirmed, but it generally runs (at least on the public side) in early June. We'll update this page as soon as the dates are confirmed.

E3 2022: How to keep track

We'll be covering E3 throughout the week here on Pocket-lint, but if it follows the same template as last year, the organiser, the ESA, will again organise an online portal and app for smartphones that will help you keep track of all the announcements.

There will therefore be "virtual booths" for different attending companies, hosted events, online forums and much more - all accessible either through a browser or the dedicated app.

Registration will be free and will likely start from late May.

Other ways to interact during E3 week include official YouTube, Twitch and Twitter channels.

On the last day of the event, there will be an E3 2022 Awards Show, with games industry illumni picking their favourites from all the titles that have been revealed during the week. You will be able to see the results on the E3 streams as above.

What to expect during E3 2022

There are always countless games to check out during E3, although recent years have seen the show diminish a bit as its online nature means developers have often opted for their own livestreams and showcases. Still, we can hope for some big titles to get unveiled or detailed.

E3 2022 games

Here are some of the games either confirmed or rumoured to be part of the action:

Starfield

Bethesda generally shows up to E3 with something juicy, and we're hoping we might get a fuller and more significant reveal of what Starfield actually looks like.

Elder Scrolls 6

Although we might get a brief tease, we'd put money on Elder Scrolls 6 not being at this year's E3 in any significant form, just like last year, sadly.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Although Nintendo has largely kept tight-lipped about its Breath of the Wild sequel, there are plenty of rumours that suggest we'll finally see something more substantial on the game.

Beyond Good and Evil 2

We haven't heard much about BGAE 2 for years, so maybe this is the time to recitify that?
