Here are the EE Pocket-lint Awards nominees for Best Streaming Device 2022

The EE Pocket-lint Awards are almost upon us, where we celebrate the best devices, services and products from the last 12 months. There are 20 main categories in total, with each one offering six nominations.

Our Best Streaming Device category focuses on the top entertainment streaming boxes and dongles to access video and audio content through. So, these are the ones to consider if you fancy treating your TV to something smart.

The shortlisted nominees for the Best Streaming Device 2022 are:

You can click on each of the products above to read our full reviews on each nomination, which will give you an indication on why they have been nominated. You can also read short verdicts on each device below, to find out why we loved them during our testing process.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max

The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max offers one of the best ways to stream content: it's easy to use, there's access to loads of streaming services, and integration with Alexa's Skills means it does a little more than many peers.

Apple TV 4K (2022)

If you are an Apple user and Apple service subscriber then the latest Apple TV 4K box could well be the one for you. it offers great performance with plenty on offer. It's pricey, but its tech spec is up there with the best and the user experience is as swish as it gets.

Google Chromecast with Google TV

Chromecast with Google TV takes Google's streaming platform and takes it into a refreshing, promising dimension. It was previously hard to recommend getting a Chromecast for TV viewing except in exceptional circumstances. But with Chromecast for Google TV, there's now a much more complete offering, with the ease of use and performance to compete with and better rival devices.

Roku Express 4K

The Roku Express 4K is an affordable streamer that will give you 4K HDR at a price that's hard to beat. With additional features like AirPlay and Google Cast, plus a broad selection of services, those wanting a complete package on a budget have a great option here.

Roku Streaming Stick 4K

This convenient little streamer brings additional support to your TV, delivering stunning 4K and Dolby Vision visuals. Roku offers an easy-to-use platform, and supports a complete set of streaming services, as well as other features such as AirPlay and Spotify Connect for enhanced connectivity. This is a great option if you want a bit more performance from your Roku.

Sky Stream

Sky Stream has been on the wishlists of many for a number of years - long before it was even conceived - but the idea of the full 4K HDR Sky TV experience over broadband without the need for a satellite dish is even better in the flesh. Yes, Sky Glass got there first, but now you don't have to swap your existing TV and AV setup to get the same thing. And, with a 31-day rolling contract option, we have to say that Sky is making it easier - and more attractive - to sign up than ever.

How the Pocket-lint Awards judging works

The winner for the Best Streaming Device category is decided by the Pocket-lint team, along with a panel of expert judges from publications across the industry. Following a vigourous scoring process, the Best Streaming Device winner for 2022 will be announced at an in-person event on 30 November 2022, along with the winners from the other 19 categories.

A Product of the Year winner will also be announced, chosen from the winners of the 20 categories and a winner of the EE Superfast Award will also be revealed at the event. On the night, we will be announcing the results on the Pocket-lint Twitter handle as they unfold and there will also be a feature detailing the winners once the ceremony is over.
