Tell yourself a lie, and believe in it!

How do i define religion? For me religion is a set of belief, that serve as a motivation, to achieve a certain agenda. This set of belief is often a conscious or unconscious distortion of reality in order to serve as a motivation for the pursuit of an agenda.

So religion, helps the mind in which it is implemented to achieve a primary goal. And as long as there is a primary goal, there is necessarily religion. It simply couldn't be avoided.

1) Agenda : Self preservation

Human beings and species, in general have the need to preserve themselves. And in order to achieve that, the mind will be inclined to perceive reality, not as it is, but as would be beneficial for achieving self preservation.

e.g : Research in chemistry and physics have shown that matter is mostly made of empty space. If the purpose of our brain was to perceive the truth as is, we should be seeing everything as mostly empty space. But then this would not be beneficial to our survival, because seeing solid matter as empty space, would cause us to bump into objects, making us vulnerable to all sort of threats, and would be detrimental to our self preservation.

Our brain therefore adapted to perceive matter differently, depending on the degree of fluidity. literally distorting reality.

Here we got a willing-full (natural) distortion of the real, in order to achieve the agenda of self preservation. we believe objects are solid, because we need that unrealistic belief to survive. But the one single truth is, Objects are mostly empty space.

 2) Agenda : Fear of Termination

2.1) In animals

How do animals deal with fear of death? They need some form of religion, because without it, it would simply be useless to keep struggling with life. To cope with the fear of termination, it is widely believed that animals, do not know that they will die. This  represent an unconscious distortion of reality. Simple ignorance of the natural facts.

2.2) In humans

As opposed to animals human beings are very aware of their own finite nature, and they are also aware of things, that may cause their own termination. This is due to a more developed consciousness level of the human brain. So why would a system that knows that its initial agenda self preservation can never be achieved, keep struggling to achieve that very agenda? For NO absolute reasons. Here again, there is a need for some form of religion, without it, the religion free mind, would just instantaneously stop every bio-chemical process and terminate itself.  An excuse to serve as fuel for the pursuit of the agenda is necessary, and that is what drives you and me, every day.

Endless Continuation, is impossible. in a same single perpetual form. Just like fire can not burn for ever, Life can not be endless.

How the brain will cope with it:

- Maybe my i will still live through my children?

- Maybe i will still live if the actions of my life persisted?

- Maybe i will be reincarnated?

- Maybe God will resurrect me?

All these ideas, serve only the need to continue walking toward the fixed agenda of the specie.

I am an Realist. I like to believe that all my thoughts and actions, must be as much as possible in line with physical reality. But when i find, that physical reality goes against my desire to be alive, my enjoyment for life, i need a cause, a goal, and i need a belief system that motivate me to walk toward that cause.

My overall goal is not self preservation, or fear of termination, as i know now these are just unrealistic illusions.

I also know that my perception of reality, is distorted because of my genes, and the embedded need of self preservation. This simply means i can never perceive the truth! So why bother be a realist? if the very tools i use are not meant to perceive reality? but rather to pursue a goal that i know is itself not real?

If you have read down to this line, and believe that i have a conclusive answer that will make you feel good or bad about yourself, i am sorry to disappoint you.... but my only answer is that of no-answers.

I am blind, and will always be.... my advice to anyone:

Tell yourself a lie, and believe in it!
