These days, I find comfort in cozying up in my recliner for the evening, turning off the lights, and putting on an exciting film to be viewed in modern, glorious 4K resolution. Classic movies that have been remastered in 4K receive new life as the up-res picture closes the gap, even if only slightly, between the time long ago when the movie was released and modern expectations. But not everything labeled as "4K" is created equal. Have you ever noticed that one 4K movie looks remarkably sharper than another? Aside from potentially poor remasters, there may also be another explanation.
