After a year, of patience, Google docs, finally implemented, cell protection in google docs, would allow anyone (sheet owner) to protect certain cells, and prevent user from editing, sensible cells, mainly containing formulas and such.
The only upside, is that the change has not yet propagated through GOOGLE APPS. Will Google apps ever feature cell protection? I don't know, but a good hack arround this would be, to share a sheet in Google apps, with a non Google apps (Gmail) User, and give them administrative priveleges, or even ownership if possible, thus making it possible for them to protect cells, from a regular gmail account.
I have not yet tried this, will update this blog post, as soon as i run some tests, and get some results.
